Carousell Stories // @thetinyislandemporium


I am 20 years old this year, I just graduated
in a Diploma in Mass Communication from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. So I graduated back in May
and then shortly after I decided to start a business on Carousell. So at first, I actually wanted to sell fashion accessories, from phone covers to fashion apparels like shirts, dresses and shoes. Afterwards,
there came an opportunity where I could deal in eyewear. So I though why not? I myself
am a collector of eye glasses.I love to admire the details of each different piece of the eyewear. Be it
your glasses, or your sunglasses so I thought it was a good opportunity for me to make use
of my time since I am doing anything. So I got on with it and was very surprised with
the results. Two weeks into my Carousell business, I sold around 20 pieces of eyewear. I was
pleasantly surprised by the results. So after that I decided to set up Facexvalue which
is the second store that deals with more exquisite eyewear. So I have these 2 stores running now for around 1.5 months and I’ve sold over 70 pieces of eyewear already and I am very grateful
for this Carousell platform. Favourite feature of the app. I definitely
appreciate the feature of being able to chat with your potential customers. I think that
really closes the distance between a merchant and the buyer. You can chat with them to negotiate
where you want to meet up or what kind of payment method would you like. Buyers themselves
would be able to ask the merchant questions like , “What are the dimensions of the product?”,
” What is the uniqueness of your product”. They would be able to clarify their doubts
with the merchants. Therefore, I think that this is a really great function. I think Carousell definitely boost confidence
in me to run businesses because I think if I were to adopt other platforms like eBay
or Qo10, I don’t think I can replicate similar results as to what Carousell has offered me.
It has been 1.5 months since my business started and I’ve sold over 70 pieces of eyewear. I
think this is very remarkable for someone like me who just started out at this business.
So I think at this point, Carousell has been Treat your customers how you want your family
to be treated, that’s how I grew my business. From the start, I’ve started my business I
have always treated my customers like their part of my family. I chat with them, and I
feel happy to deal with them. [music]
